Jan Jelinek

★★★★

Inhuman and cold; some people believe all electronic music deserves those descriptors. And there are clearly some examples of that being the case; much to my personal enjoyment and interest. Basic Channel is an example of that, but really I am also constantly searching for music like this Jan Jelinek record. Something that can provide a warmth even through a technological barrier.

What would usually inhibit the expression of true human warm, feeling, and love, is used to make those attributes come alive. And with this there a couple songs I could see being used on some glitchy minimal house sets or something of that sort. But mostly this just transports you.

Unlike his Farben albums this seems more comforting and close to home. And while there's nothing really jazzy to it, there's a sense of nostalgia that one might get with old dusty, warm jazz records. It seems to completely surround you and take over; you let this album do the work and you just bathe in it.

It's almost like being completely covered in a rainfall of feathers; each one striking you at a perfect point that is comforting and makes you relax. Like every muscle just sits back and watches the show go down.
