Milford Graves
Bäbi
★★★
Why are the musically insane always the ones that smile on their covers. This live performance is a true example of musical creativity in the oddest form possible. Graves is accompanied by Arthur Doyle and Hugh Glover on this, both of them on reeds. I do love one of Doyle's albums, haven't heard of Glover before. But even though they try their best, both of their raging saxophone playing can't keep up with the primal power of Graves. The crowd seems to enjoy it, I think I would enjoy it more too if I was there. But I think this would've done so much better as a solo Graves performance. The vocalizations and counting made me chuckle too, there's always some humor in jazz. Whether it be sublime or outright.
