Geir Jenssen
Cho Oyu 8201m (Field Recordings From Tibet)
★★★½
An interesting set of field recordings from Biosphere under his real name. Jenssen actually is a quite experienced mountain climber, which makes sense if you listen to his music. He really seems to capture that environment. He does the same thing here, with perhaps a little bit less effort. The sounds of local fauna and peoples make this connect faster than most of Biosphere's other records. However I think it only truly unlocks more of its potential towards the end, with the amazing use of silence and shortwave radio interruptions. I just think it could've been more fleshed out, more ideas could've been expanded upon like they were towards the end.
