Anthony Braxton
B-X0 NO-47A

★★★★

Braxton presents his first BYG actuel with a very charming, and playful blue-collar performance. The four players are limited in the actual instruments in which they use; instead leaning towards more unorthodox sounds and concepts. It really sort of follows the narrative of a young but worn down man going through his everyday routines in an urban environment. But it's much more energetic and hectic than one would think. I do also think I'm opening myself up more and more to the idea of violin playing in jazz. Hearing Leroy Jenkins work those strings, making them bend to his will, is really quite amazing. So far all of my Braxton listens have been enjoyable and I am willing to be it will continue to be this way.
